The Hand Reader and Personal Beliefs Does a hand reader’s interpretation of the various features found in the hands differ depending on his own personal belief system? The hand reader’s religious or spiritual beliefs, or lack of, should actually make no difference whatsoever to his basic understanding and interpretation of any one particular hand feature. Very few palmistry authors mention the necessity for any religious or spiritual beliefs to be used as an aid to understanding and translating the features in the hands. Nor is it necessary to be ‘psychic’. The art of translating and interpreting hand features stems from the observation of many hands over as many years, and is not related to any specific religious beliefs. However, an interpretation or any advice given as a result may be coloured by the reader's own belief system. There are certain hand readers who, because of their own religious beliefs or through their own understanding of life, offer other theories about what certain hand features might indicate. Or in other words, they create individual hand reading systems of their own. However, although these systems may well be worthy of further investigation, they do not as yet form the basis of the standard system used by the majority of hand readers today. Hand reading attracts people from all religions and all walks of life, regardless of their beliefs, and the subject is not therefore confined to the psychic world. While hand reading does generally tend to attract those involved in the helping and caring professions, there are others who study hand analysis, interested in taking a more scientific route in order to advance the subject and increase knowledge. Modern hand analysis is tending to move away from the approach taken by traditional palmists, and the more superstitious aspect of palmistry, and in this respect, any reference to specific religious or spiritual beliefs while methodically analysing the features in the hands does not apply. However, in putting this information across to the client during a reading, hand readers are likely to use their own point of reference, which is naturally based on their own perspective, life experience, and/or religious or spiritual belief system, in order to offer as much individual help and advice to the client as possible. In this way, although a reading is likely to differ from reader to reader, the underlying message as indicated by the features in the hands is likely to be very similar.
